This site has MOVED!!

Journal Entry: Thu May 8, 2008, 4:43 PM
It's time to pull back the curtain. I am moving this place. New deviant page, new attitude.

[link]

In all honesty the reason for moving was pretty simple....I wanted something totally new to build from the ground up. I may use this place at some point in the future to show past work but right now it's all about the new~

check it out.

I will post that Star wars final up here in the next few days but then you are going to see tumble weeds rolling through here so get your ass over to the new page.

thanks

ricH.

Wildstorm Gallery Show Big News!

Journal Entry: Thu May 1, 2008, 9:59 PM
This is a pretty cool anouncement and has been in the works for about a year. Wildstorm is doing an art gallery show here in San Diego and it's in a local art museum and library here in La Jolla called The Athenaeum.

The show spotlights the art of Wildstorm and of course Jim Lee.

The COOL news is.....

it's going to be running for a FULL MONTH~!!

From June 21st to July 26th (yes during comic con you can make a vigil to our neck of the woods and lunch time stomping grounds...and see original art from Wildstorm and of course our current work for DC comics.) We have two full rooms and there's even rumours we might be given full reign of one room to fully draw all over it.

The website address for the Anthenaeun is:

if you get an opportunity to make it. It's a unique opportunity to see some KILLER original art up close and personal. I am sure it's going to be a really cool because WE get to fully design the spread.

I got the newsletter in the mail tonight so although this is pipping hot news and I don't think has been mentioned online anywhere....it's out there....and it's time you started making plans to come on up to La Jolla and check it out.

There may be a special thing opening night so as I get some info...I will share more.

Just wanted to give you the exciting news.

Like I said, it's really tough sometimes because like I've known about this for 10 months easily (if not longer) and you just have to sit on the info and I have several new pieces of art for the show as well....but that's where they will make their debut.

:)

There's more stuff in the works....so please stay tuned.

Batman Hellboy Steampunk.

Please understand that I do have my regular work to do so this piece will be something I do over a period of time. I tried to take a photo of the overall layout last night and my digital camera couldn't pick up the pencils. I guess when I get a little further into I will take it to work and scan it.

thanks to everyone who voted. There a little something special for you in your "notes" from me.

Narrowing it down (final vote)

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 25, 2008, 2:35 PM
ok I am trying to now narrow down the selections.

There are several that really stood out to me:

1: The Galactic Space piece with all kinds of different characters.

2: Steampunk.

3: Star Wars

4: a Retrospective thing with books I had worked on...so you'd have Wild Cats, maybe Danger Girl, Steampunk, trying to think....if you have any that you like let me know

5: Hellboy Batman Steampunk

and......tool versus the Mars Volta

;)

uhmmmm.........yeah I am trying to think. I'll go through the list one last time.

a Space thing is interesting because I just saw an interview with Jim Lee and he was talking about how Wildstorm was going more Sci-fi....

There's also the thing with Wild Cats because I may be doing something with them later this year so it would be a good warm up for me drawing the characters.

so I guess let's narrow it down and Tuesday or Wednesday I'll be starting this thing.

:)

thanks for all the suggestions. I remember them so there's always the chance I'll come back to your idea if it didn't make it.

thanks.

ricH.

whoops~!!!!!

I wanted to add.

whatever idea get's the most votes is the one I'll draw. I am going to do a triple gatefold on it.

so pick ONLY one / and the one with the most votes by Tuesday get's it.

Let's do a piece TOGETHER

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 23, 2008, 4:09 PM
ok so it's getting back to the time...when I am going to start posting art back up here.

I was thinking today while working "what am I going to draw first?" I wanted to come back with a large piece. I mean many boards....maybe 3 to 6 pages worth of stuff. A HUGE image.

My thought was.....people here can vote on a theme, idea concept or whatever...and I'll draw it. X-Men, Batman, Star Wars, Hellboy, Sin City, whatever....Even blending and mixing different themes or ideas is cool too, you name it. I'll then post each step of the process...

I will say I work in a very weird way so it's not going to be like....here's the thumbnails, next come the tighter layouts. I feel like that sucks the life out of a piece and I've never had anything turn out better based on that working method....but I'll try to have it be a somewhat interactive process all along the way.

so what's your idea? The one that get's the most votes or the one that is so cool that the second I read the idea I have to do it...is the one I'll draw.

This should be interesting. It will be a little like the inking step by step pieces....but this time it will be creating, and then penciling a fully finished piece.

looking forward to your thoughts.
