for ANY penciler out there...I think this sequential page is a testament to how bad ass Travis is.....this would be a TOUGH page to draw and he does it effortlessly and with no reference....really incredible.
Perfect amount of detailing, the perfect effect of moving the eye around the page, cool looking characters.
this is such a great page...one of my favorites actually...I've never posted this one online before...but to me it's a 10 out of 10.
and NO action.
really amazing.
again I think any pencilers will truly admire how bad ass something like this...and how incredibly difficult it is to make it look this effortless.
I love my koh i nor tech pens, but the smaller they are the harder it is for me to keep an even flow with them. I am constantly cleaning them and still they skip. What's the best way to fix the problem? What kind of ink do you use and do you do any mixing inks w/ other chemicals?
All kinds of juicy goodness - the pencils AND the inks. Once had the opportunity to watch Travis draw and it really was an inspiration to pay more attention to details around me in life so I could bring my unreferenced sketches up a notch.
Wow, I continue to be floored by some of the stuff you are posting. Admittedly, I previously had no clue who this Travis guy was(I know, don't everyone try and seek me out and give me a swift kick to the bawlz) but I have become a huge overnight fan just from the stuff you have been posting. I also have just recently started following you and I am floored at your resume of people you have worked with, I have been loving your work for years and didn't even know who ya were. You have definitely gained a new fan and are an inspiration to what GOOD inking is supposed to look like. If you don't mind I'd like to ask you what on a budget of under a 100 bucks are the essential inking tools a newbie would need to get started. I have been using a black COPIC inking set I bought on amazon but I also know i see a lot of people using quills, brushes, etc. Thanks for sharing with everyone dude!
hey thanks a lot....pretty much what you said...a good brush or two....maybe some crow quills.
the trick is take good care of them...clean them up a little when you are done...that will help them last longer because a lot of that stuff is really expensive.
good brands are Hunt 102. Koh i Nor, Raphael, Windsor Newton....you might want to get a few french curves and a straight edge too
just have to be careful, and try and keep them clean anyway you can think of.
I use just normal ink, no blend, or anything like that.
koh i nor ultradraw or Universal...either seems fine.
thanks so much again for all the nice words Dave./
Rich.
