Silent Dragon wip Samurai by Blasterkid Silent Dragon wip Samurai by Blasterkid
wow ok this is getting weird...I don't even remember ever seeing this before...I guess I did this work in progress scan.

Funny I had no idea I'd be adding all this Leinil art tonight...I just happened to hit several back up discs that had this stuff on it.

I just e mailed Leinil yesterday....so I guess it was in the cards somehow.

:)

so yeah this is maybe 3 or 4 hours into this page...I guess one point of interest is; as I am working I am filling in all the blacks as I go...it helps me see the composition and also lets me know where I can lose black and add more lines...or not to do it...if it is going to feel to weak with less solid black.

I ink digitally these days so going back in to a dark area to add white isn't an issue on the technical side. However, I am curious, do you go back in with a white gauche, white out or something else? Or do you, instead, pen in strokes and then lay down solid blacks after you've gotten an idea of how the comp is working? Right before my switch to digital, I kicked the pen stroke followed by brush method around but didn't like it much. Just asking. Anyway, great work as always. Wish I had more time for inking these days....darn 3d models take too long to make.

Hey man...
After watching some of your art I began to wonder... Did you do a issue or two of X-men vs Wildcats?

Your art looks almost exactly like the B/W part of the story...

Really nice art btw ;)

It was really easy actually...I guess maybe just deciding what I was going to do was like a 'thinking part'...but this is like a slam dunk for me.

very easy style and 100% natural terrain...I could do this type of work for the next 50 years no problem.

the hardest thing for me would be to ink someone like John Paul Leon or Michael Lark...like that side of the brush really smudgy style...

that's hard.
