This is the point where I really started to see a lot of my non comic influences bubbling to the surface...I still did this as sort of a hyper detailed nod to someone like Drew Struzan but it got to be this fine line I was walking between doing comic art and illustration.

American comics unfortunately aren't geared for that type of work because it's a periodical driven industry...stuff has got to move and get out every month.

That really sent my head in a million directions..I had finally developed things in my work that were working for me and not at all realistic for doing monthly comics...this didn't even take that long..but 5 days (or nights more specifically) just isn't going to cut it...that's only 6 pages a month.

I've worked through all the tough stuff and I think in the right hands.....an editor could get some solid regular comic work out of me.

Man Rich this is just WOW!!! The amount of detail is stunning. Do you frisk or put anything over objects you want to leave white (ex. bow and figures)?

no just some pre-planning...these were essentially tests...at the time it was this thing I really wanted to do...I went for it pretty hard...and the results worked out.

now you've got the stuff I am doing now.
