Leinil and me Silent Dragon b by Blasterkid Leinil and me Silent Dragon b by Blasterkid
Pretty brutal page...I found like 5 scans of this stuff...this one I don't believe is up here...so...

you get two.

This scan looks a little blurry on my screen...not sure if I am just tired from inking 2 pages today already.

haha

I'm actually glad you got a chance to ink Leinil on this series Rich, even if it was just for the one issue!

Love to see the 2 of you work together again.

Insano in the braino! I'm digging all these posts! You've really worked on some beautiful pages and I can't help but notice how seamless it all is. You truly adapt your line for each artist quite well. Very impressive!

I try and just look at the pencil art....maybe take into consideration what I've seen done on them before and what I thought worked the best....really it's about looking at the pencils and then trying to finish the idea as seamlessly as possible..

to be honest...I really don't want people to notice the inks...if you really look at my work I am never overly flashy (well within reason) and I think if someone is immediately looking at what I did and not the drawing as a whole...I kind of missed the mark.

I mean there are exceptions...and it's always going to be different...but I don't really try and do super flashy "hey look at me inks".

or maybe I do...I am not sure??

:/

hahaha

Well you have a real knack for staying true to the artists you work with. Not many can really say that. I know a lot of guys will try their best to duplicate the pencil lines exactly and they lose a tremendous amount of the integrity of the work.

I think you said it best, you're trying to continue the process as they would have and the results speak for themselves.

This was for sure one of my favorite pages from the arc, one of the many. The work you guys nailed out on this book was so inspiring and will always feed me artistic vigor. Such energetic line work, and killer choices of spotted blacks to move the eye around. Curious if you guys had good time to really express the process on this project or if deadlines were rushed per usual? None the less you guys nailed it:shakefist:

I took about 5 weeks on this but the book was VERY late which was why I was called in. They originally were like..."can you ink a few pages...."

no offense to anyone..but people who can't finish books drive me nuts. I don't like to do fill-ins ever. I am talking 'can you ink 3 or 4 pages of this or that?"

Let the inker who took the job finish it. That's there job not mine.

But luckily it turned out to be a full issue fill in. I just had fun with it and let the deadline chips fall where they may.

I knew Leinil and I would probably never work together again so this was pretty much going to be it...so I had fun and did whatever I wanted....I didn't even care about the deadline...but I still did it in 5 weeks or just over 4...

The pages took anywhere from 6 or 7 hours to one taking I think 3 or 4 days.
